What is a Driver?
Drivers are software programs that enable operating systems and programs installed on them to communicate with various hardware devices, controllers, and peripherals connected to your computer. Basically, drivers work as an instruction manual to provide software with the information on controlling and communicating with different hardware devices and peripherals.

If the driver you have installed is outdated and is generating errors on your computer, then fix this problem by upgrading the driver. For this, first visit the driver manufacturer’s website and download the latest driver version. Next, open Device Manager, double-click on the device with the problematic driver, open the Driver tab, and select the Update Driver button. Next, follow the screen instructions to update the current driver to the latest version you had downloaded earlier.
If your current driver is corrupt and you want to reinstall it, then first select the Uninstall button on the Driver tab to remove the current driver, restart your PC, and then reinstall the driver again.
NOTE:Download the updated driver before uninstalling and restarting your system. This step is critical if the driver causing problems is related to wireless or a network card. We additionally suggest that the updated driver be placed on the desktop for easy access during any re-install process.
In Windows XP, driver errors can also be fixed from the Recovery Console. To open the Recovery Console, boot your PC with the Windows XP CD-ROM, and on the Welcome to Setup screen select R. Log on to the Recovery Console using the administrator password and run the following command:
cd windowssystem32drivers
Next, rename the driver file of the faulty drive by running the command given below:
ren Driver_Name.sys Driver_Name.old
Now, to fix the error, copy the original driver from the XP installation CD-ROM to the Drivers folder. To do this, run the following command.
copy CD-Drive:i386 Driver_Name.sys
Next, exit the Recovery Console and restart your PC. If none of the above methods fix the problem, then most probably there is a problem with your hardware. Then, to fix the driver error, either replace or repair the hardware.

New Installation Programs for Compatibility with Office 2013
WinSteam 4.0, @Air 4.0, @Gas 4.0 and XLInterp 4.0 have been tested with Windows 8 and Windows 10 and are fully compatible. The Excel add-ins for these products have been tested with Office 2013 and 2016 and are fully compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Excel. Previous versions of these products are not compatible with Office 2013 or later.
Techware Information Drivers
We made a change to the installation programs for the 32-bit versions of all of our 4.0 products to make it easier for users to find the Excel add-ins. The previous versions of all of our 32-bit products placed the Excel add-ins in the Library folder of the current version of Excel installed on your computer. The new release of the 32-bit installation programs place the Excel add-in files in the corresponding TechwareEng product folder. This was done because the Office Library folder is difficult to find under Office 2013.
More specific details regarding the installation of the 32-bit versions of our 4.0 products are provided in the download and installation instructions for each product. No changes were made to any of the products' files.
New Release @Air 4.0
The download file for the 32-bit version of @Air 4.0 has been replaced with a new release to fix a problem with the unit set extras. In the @Air add-in for Excel, the user can add extra characters to the unit set name in order to invoke specific changes to the functions such as changing from a dry basis to a wet basis for certain properties. In the previous release of the 32-bit version only, these unit set extra characters were ignored. The unit set extras were available when the user entered unit sets on a numerical basis instead of a character basis. This release fixes that problem. We suggest that all users of the 32-bit version of @Air 4.0 download the new version. You should un-install the previous version of @Air before installing this upgrade. You will have to re-enter the serial and authorization numbers.
New Release of WinSteam 4.0
Techware Information Drivers License
The download file for WinSteam 4.0 has been replaced with a new release to fix a couple of minor problems. The first fixes the StmPHT function which was returning an error value in certain areas of the critical region. No other functions were changed nor was the StmPHT function code changed outside of the critical region.
A few customers were having problems getting the 64-bit version of Excel 2010 to recognize the WinSteam add-in. This new release also fixes that problem. The designation for the new release version is 4.0.1. You can verify the version number by clicking the About button on the DeskTop Steam Help menu. The StmVer function only returns the major and minor version number and so the release number is not visible from there.
All users of WinSteam 4.0 should download and install the new release. If you install it without uninstalling the previous release, you will not have to re-enter the serial and authorization numbers.
Compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010
Version 4.0 of WinSteam, @Air, @Gas and XLInterp are compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems and will work with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Excel 2010. In Version 4.0, all help files have been converted to compiled HTML format, which is compatible with all recent versions of Windows. WinSteam 4.0,@Air 4.0,@Gas 4.0 and XLInterp 4.0 are now available.
Compatibility with Office 2007 and Earlier
The latest versions, WinSteam 4.0, @Air 4.0, @Gas 4.0 and XLInterp 4.0 are compatible with Microsoft Office 2007, Office 2003 and Office XP. The Excel add-ins for Office 2007 and later are different from the add-ins for earlier versions of Office in that they support the larger worksheet size. The installation program for each add-in will detect which version of Office you have and install the proper add-in automatically. For all version 4.0 products, you will have to go to the TechwareEng group on the Start Menu to launch Help.
Version 4.0 Pricing
The pricing for all version 4.0 products will be the same as that for the previous version. Upgrades from versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 of WinSteam, @Air and @Gas as well as versions 1.1 and 1.2 of XLInterp are available for a price of $99.00 each. Upgrades from older versions are available for $149.00 each. Check the pricing schedule for details.
